Don’t mess with his daughter
Sam, Jake’s daughter, is in serious trouble. Her boyfriend gave her pills to study for a test, but the pair are caught on school grounds with the illicit drugs. Her maternal grandfather is a district court judge, and she gets off with a slap on the wrist. Austin isn’t as lucky. So with his precious future at stake, his brother attempts a Hail-Mary pass by kidnapping Sam for his release.

Book two dives into a lot more on the family dynamics side, which I really enjoyed. It does a fantastic job with the various character perspectives. It’s got a lot of morally grey characters and actions and gets you into each character’s shoes as you figure out what they’re up to.
