Cove of the Fisherman’s Wife – Beautiful Beasts 2

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

In feudal Japan, the wife of a fisherman enters a pact with a yõkai to keep the village prosperous as long as she pleases him. But the entrance of a Rõnin threatens this bargain.

Cove of the Fisherman's Wife

To keep her village safe, Kazemi, the wife of a fisherman, has entered into a dark secret bargain with a monstrous yõkai spirit that lurks in a nearby cove. They remain prosperous…and in exchange she offers herself to the creature and lets it exact his lustful desires on her.

But the appearance of a wandering Rõnin and Yõkai hunter threatens to expose her secret affair with the creature, forcing Kazemi to go to even greater extremes to not only protect her village but the young girl Izumi as well. Desire and duty clash towards a violent endgame in an erotic tale of monsters and the women who fall prey to their whims.

★★★★★
This novella is an excellent contribution to the supernatural erotica genre. The sex scenes between the (very tentacled) yokai and Kazemi are scorching hot. Yet, there is much more to the plot than Kazemi’s understandably conflicted feelings about enjoying her time with the yokai. There are earthly evil actors who threaten the village, and innocent people Kazemi tries to protect. Kazemi is a very relatable heroine. She’s a mature woman who owns her sexuality and who is willing to make tough choices and endure the consequences. The yokai turns out to be the sexy, respectable supernatural being every monster f*cker can fall for. Overall, this book was a mouthwateringly raunchy, at times very emotionally intense, very satisfying read.

This is an exciting and quick read for anyone who enjoys quick and to the point smut.
You are immediately hit with tentacles but you’re also given a surprisingly heartbreaking story of a woman trying to protect her people. It was extremely satisfying to see that the Ronin eventually got what was coming to him after taking advantage of the unprotected village. I’m looking forward to reading others from this series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I was surprised how emotional the book could get. The lead clearly enjoys what she does with the monster and tries to deny it, and I like the emotional turmoil she goes through. Very relatable. Also, it can be really intense at times. The scariest part to me was not the monster but the samurai that came to the village. Who’s the real monster, eh?
All in all, I liked it a lot. Steamy, scary and very intense.
