Just WOW! I thought I was just going to read a few pages of this one but ended up finishing it just under 4 hours. Man this book was REALLY QUICK! It has some great intertwining stories of the characters which all had their own voices and were fully formed. As well as one killer story!

The blend of history and magic was so well done that if you would have been there it would have felt normal. I love these kinds of stories. I could see fans of Outlander and the Mists of Avalon and the like loving this series.

While there is a time jump from the last book of about 500 years into the past, I quickly became engaged with the main characters – a sarcastic grandmother and a young man who truly tries hard to succeed. This book has it all – Vikings, a Norman siege, insane faeries and magical instruments. As always, the author has fantastic scenic atmosphere and intriguing characters. I look forward to the next one!
